Scab the QR code to be seated We waited about 10 mins on a Sunday You scan from a QR code on your phone to order your food. It was kind or frustrating because it wasn't working .. refreshed it about five times and it worked Food was good, we enjoyed it. We used to come here all the time. Definitely recommend

Great experience at Genki Waikele last night! We've been waiting for this location to reopen since it's one of the better Genki, in my opinion, and they serve alcohol. In the meantime of renovations, my family's been enjoying Genki's Ewa Beach location which is very close to our home. Last night was one for the books! I don't ever recall being served so attentively, and my wife and I were stoked to see NEW items on the ever-so-mundane menu. To our surprise, Genki now serves UNI, a variety of ramen, steamed scallop nigiri, shrimp temp nigiri, red sea snail nigiri, tsubugai, fried baby octopus, takoyaki (made better than before), hamburger, and a variety of Genki Bites. Unfortunately, we had a late dinner - arrived around 745 with a wait of roughly 15 mins. By the time we were ordering, they had sold out of the uni and scallops, but now we know they got it, we'll be back to try again. And they better have it! Lol jk. Since my initial dinner suggestion was Tanaka Ramen, I had to give the Tonkotsu Ramen a try after noticing this addition to the menu. Omg! I was impressed and so was my wife!!! Not gonna lie, I was expecting something watered down and basic (like the udon), but the noodles were chewy and delicious, and that broth was so rich and flavorful!! Good job, Genki! The ramen was served with a thick slice of chashu, garlic chips, bamboo, green onions, nori and sesame seeds. Definitely wish they had rayu, but daaaaang.... We were impressed with the $8 bowl. Another awesome newbie is the fried baby octopus. Eat it hot and squeeze the lemon over it and I think you'll be happy as well. Like other fried things, it's a bit greasy, but I was surely pleased by its crunchy perfection... mmmm... yum, yum, yum! As I've mentioned in another Genki review, with hopes to help with the enjoyment of your meal - keep in mind that Genki is NOT an authentic sushi restaurant with chef quality preparations and personalized, custom ordering. The process is now more self-serve; scan the provided QR code and scroll to find your selections. Near the serving belt are controls to call your server or request the check by the push of a button. It is typically busy on week nights and weekends, and wait times can get a bit long (30-60 mins). The great thing now is that you can wait in the comfort of your vehicle, unlike the old school style when you'd have to wait in a crowd and hope the next guy don't have the same name as you hahaha! Good times!! Enjoy :)

I haven't been to Genki since that whole fiasco went down seven years ago. It came out in the papers that they were serving low quality grade seafood. I didn't have the urge to eat there and view Genki as the fast food of sushi. I walked by and noticed that they have $11.99 bentos. I went in and asked the cashier if I could get one with spicy ahi and fried squid. The pic in the advertisement had ahi poke with the fried squid. She said that I could mix and match to create my own bento. I waited about 10 minutes for my take out bento. The whole bento was surprisingly really good. It had ocean salad, tofu, fried squid and spicy ahi over white rice. The tofu tasted like it came straight out of the container with no seasoning. I dipped it in the sauce that the fried squid came with and it was perfect. The spicy ahi and fried squid were nicely done. The spicy ahi wasn't that spicy with good flavor. However, the ahi was cut into tiny pieces. It wasn't cubed or minced like I'm used to. The pieces were just tiny. They gave a good amount of food for the price. I would definitely get this again.
